Digging up Bones and Fringe benefits....

Lame Title...huh?

It’s been a  minute since I have posted. I was plagued with a husband who is traveling and toothache that I was sure would kill me. The husband is still traveling but the toothache has lessened so now I am ready to give my two cents on the finales of Bones and Fringe. Only read the following if you have watched both finales .
SPOILER ALERT!

Let’s start with Bones. I loved the finale of Bones but I have loved this whole season. Some fans seem to find the addition of baby Christine as unnecessary or have even claimed it takes away from the awesomeness of the show. I find that bizarre. I think motherhood brings out some really wonderful things  in the character of Temperance Brennan. It has softened her a little but not too much. She is still highly analytical and extremely driven. She is still our beloved Bones. As for Booth, I don’t believe the birth of his second child has changed him much, but it has changed their relationship for the better.

The episode itself left us with a delightfully painful cliffhanger. The events leading up to this delightful cliffhanger kept me on the edge of my seat and caused me to bite my poor nails down to the quick (Thanks for that Hart Hansen!). Emily Deshanel is still on top of her game despite her maternity leave and David Boreanez never disappoints but I think the actor who impressed me the most was Tamara Taylor (Dr. Camille Saroyan) who was torn between her loyalty and love for Temperance Brennan and her duty the law and integrity of the Jeffersonian. She really had me on the verge of hysterics when she made the choice to do the right thing. Ryan O’Neal was also doing his thing and laying it down (so to speak) with a performance that was so very in character.
I am waiting…as patiently as I can…for season 8. Hmmm….

Bye bye Pete Wilder

So, recently it was announced on many sites that Tim Daly (who has played Pete Wilder on ABC’s Private Practice for five years) will not be returning for the sixth season of the Grey's spinoff (which is rumored to be it's last, more on that later).  Many fans are unhappy and the reasoning seems to be Shonda Rimes didn’t handle it professionally. I am not sure I see that. According to sources (Namely Daly’s twitter) Rimes notified Daly that his contract was not being renewed via his agent. I kind of assumed that is par for the course…am I wrong? Regardless, it’s called show business for a reason people- emphasis on the business. Build a bridge, ok?

My feelings on Daly’s exit? Eh. Shall I expand on my eh? Ok, here goes…I love Tim Daly (Wings represent.) I love Pete Wilder. I was very much hoping for a Addison/Pete long term thing. I have grown accustomed to Addison and Sam. I have even been looking forward to a potential Addison/Jake thing but for a long time I held a candle for Pete and Addison. However, Pete and Violet are killing me. The back and forth alone is nerve wracking but then throw in who he has become since being with her…well; it’s enough to make me violently ill.

I understand someone had to go for financial reasons (that is my assumption at least, don’t quote me.) I wish it had been Violet (Amy Brenneman) because her character is unnecessarily whiny and just irritating. But as sad as I am to see Pete go at least he and Violet are done now. However a friend pointed out to me that now we will probably have to deal with a season’s worth of Violet complaining so buckle up Private Practice fans and get a helmet.

Hart of Dixie. And go!

Hi, I am Aimee and I am starting a blog as a way to get out all of my thought on the ridiculous amount of TV that I watch. I could take the time to tell you about me but are you interested…didn’t think so. Moving right along to my first post.

Hart of Dixie. Let me just say that I started watching this show because of my mad Rachel Bilson love. I was a huge O.C. fan (though admittedly I was late to the game, the show had been cancelled by the time I started watching) I had my reservations starting with the fact that wasn’t entirely sure I bought Summer Roberts as a doctor and finishing with the fact that her nemesis was named Lemon. None of that withstanding I found the show to be an endearing throwback to the old WB shows. It was very Everwood meets Gilmore Girls (and if you read this blog much than you will come to discover that my love for Gilmore Girls knows no end).

But, I digress, I thoroughly enjoyed this season and I was on pins and needles waiting for this bubble show to be renewed. I did a little happy dance when the CW decided to move forward with season 2. I was also fairly pleased with how this season ended.

************SPOILER ALERT*********
For those of those of you who haven’t watched season 1 or the finale please discontinue reading here. If you continue then you agree to my terms. Thank you.

Zoe Hart was likable enough. I did at times find her a bit small minded where the south was concerned. I wished she would try a little harder to fit in but then it wouldn’t much of show now would it?

The initial triangle of Zoe/George and Zoe/Wade interesting enough. I leaned Zoe and Wade from day one but I didn’t dislike Zoe and George. However, I was completely annoyed when George and Zoe went to New Orleans and had their little…thing…whatever that was supposed to be. George’s break up with Lemon was too new and it seemed out of character.

I was thrilled to see Zoe and Wade make amends after Zoe hurt him so badly. I was even more thrilled to see them move on what appeared to be the road to couplesville. And I wasn’t entirely disappointed in the roadblock thrown in their way i.e. George showing up at her door and confessing his feeling for her. I am definitely excited to see what will come to pass in season 2. Fall can’t get here quickly enough (not just for Hart of Dixie but for all of my shows…more on that later.)

One more thing I want to comment on…Lemon and Lavon. Wow, I was really impressed with this storyline. It seemed a little contrived in the beginning but I really got pulled into this one. Their emotion was palpable. Lavon was truly someone I could identify with…it felt real to me. I almost liked them more than Zoe’s love life (Don’t hurt me!). I am also interested to see what Lavon will do when he find out Lemon didn’t marry George.

Oh, Lemon and George! How predictable? “Oh no! The long time love of my life had a relationship with my friend while I was away and now I can’t marry her because my hurt feelings are just an excuse to cannodle with the new hot doctor in town!” Really? Who didn’t see that one coming?
And let me close with this, the southern accents...yikes. As a girl who grew up in Georgia, I was offended. But I will admit they became a little less aggravating as the season wore on. So, let’s hope for some more improvement in the sophomore season.

That is all. Have a nice day!

Team Zade!
