Once Upon a Recycled Plotline….
SPOILERS…SPOILERS…SPOILERS…SPOILERS…SPOILERS…SPOILERS...SPOILERS
RECAP: Cora and Hook arrive in Storeybrooke and
trouble is brewing. Regina is accused of murder after a fight is witnessed between
her and beloved member of the town. Not everyone believes she is guilty but the
evidence keeps piling up against her.
I am torn on last Sunday’s Once Upon a Time’s return from
holiday hiatus. “The Cricket Game” was not a bad episode but the whole framed
for murder thing feels familiar…oh, wait! It is familiar that was half of
season 1.
Once Upon a Time is without a doubt one of my favorite shows
on television currently. And to be fair even its worst episode (which I don’t think
this is) is better than other shows best episodes. I had just kind of hoped we
were past this now and had moved onto something more original.
Overall-
Things
I loved:
The coitus interuptus in the
Charming house…the look on Emma’s face alone was just priceless.
Emma trying to be a mom…It’s cute
seeing her bond with Henry.
Belle and Rumple one of the best
cutest most interesting? relationships on television. Whatever, I like it.
Hook/Cora interactions
Hook/Regina interactions
Things
I didn’t love:
The recycled plot line- It is reminiscent
of Mary Margaret’s troubles in season 1.
My rating? 3 out of 5. Not the best.
Not the worst.

Addison's choice and other such things.
The first episode of Private Practices sixth season was good
(not as good the show it spun off from, Greys Anatomy but…what can you do?).
Let me say, I am a firm believer that this is PP’s last season (I refuse to
call it PPP like other sites and blogs do because I don’t get where the third P
comes from and until I do I am not doing it). Kate Walsh has said she is not
returning and thought I love the other characters (especially Cooper and
Charlotte) But I do not for a second believe the other characters can carry
this show without Kate…just my opinion.
On to the current episode.
I liked the pacing of the episode. I liked how it shows what
each person has gone through during the time away. The actors really brought it
and I loved it ... Even Amy Brenneman and I am not a Violet Turner fan. I am disappointed
by the loss Tim Daly but I can’t say I am not ready to stop dealing with Pete
and Violet…just saying.
Overall-
Things I loved:
The fact that they waited so long to reveal Addison’s choice
(usually when a main character is faced with a romantic choice they reveal it
in the first few minutes of the show) It was nice to stretch it out and leave
people wondering.
I love that Addison chose Jake; I was over Addison and Sam…period.
Cooper and Charlotte…three babies…hahahaha…That is just
awesome!
Things I didn’t love:
I am indifferent to Sam’s new thing. I want him to be happy
and I am over him and Addison but I just didn’t care much.
Pete’s death, I was hoping they would leave it open for him
to return.
My rating? 3 out of 5, it was a little better than average.
Let’s hope season 6 will go out with a bang.
In memory...
***Spoiler alert***
If you have not watched the first episode of season 9 of
Grey’s Anatomy STOP HERE….warning you now.
Ok, so, I am a Grey’s fan from way back. As much as I have
loved this show over the years I will be the first one to say that in my humble
opinions Grey’s has lost it’s spark. I started feeling differently about Grey’s
after season 3 (and no, that is not just because Addison left, although I am a
HUGE Addison Montgomery fan.) It just didn’t feel the same. Now, I am a firm
believer that every show that goes for more than 1 or 2 seasons has a point
where it changes (for example Beverly Hills 90210, the original series, went
through a change after a high school and then after college. Charmed changed after
season 4. They felt like different shows almost). I allow for that change but
Grey’s just felt weak. Season 6 was little better but 7 an 8 were slightly disappointing.
Saying all that, I loved this premiere. It was emotional and yet still fun at
times. I may actually be excited about Grey’s Anatomy again.
The actors brought their A game, especially Sara Ramirez
(Dr. Callie Torres) and Patrick Dempsey (Dr. Derek Shepherd aka McDreamy). The
cast has always been good in opinion but this episode reminded me why I love
them. The sad parts were really sad but the good news I was expecting most of
them. Some stuff was news to me (Like Arizona…yikes). The preview for next week
already has me nervous, I am sure it’s going to be just as good as this episode
but it looks even more emotional than the first episode. I guess I should watch
it with a box of tissues.
Overall-
Things I loved:
Cristina being Cristina. (The parts we saw of her at Mayo
reminded me if the tough chick I fell in love with all of those years ago.
The Meredith/Cristina love …My favorite friendship on television.
The Meredith and Derek love…I enjoy seeing them happy after
all the nonsense they deserve it, right?
Bailey and Ben (super cute and super happy…Because Bailey is
made of awesome and deserves awesome things)
The Mark Sloan tribute, it was well done and super sweet.
The Callie/Arizona stuff (I was almost sure that Shonda Rhimes had killed Arizona and I knew
that would be a disaster). I am glad Arizona is alive and I am excited to see what
they do with this. I am expecting some world class acting from Sara and Jessica.
Owen getting April Kepner (I won’t deny it was weird. But I
liked it)
Jackson and Mark
Medusa…Right?
Booty call Bailey…what!?!?!
Derek, Callie and Mark
Alex being a PIMP
Alex caring enough to stay at SGMW hospital.
Things I didn’t love:
The new interns…they bugged me…(but to be fair the Mercy
West doctors bugged me once too and now Jackson and April are loved by me, so
we shall see)
Cristina’s boss at Mayo…eeewww
That is about it..There were not a lot I disliked in this
episode.
My rating? 4.5 stars out of 5…it was good but it takes a little
more fantastic to get 5 out of 5…sorry.
Please be looking for a blog post to be made today about the
negative attitude people seem to have
about Shonda Rhimes

We wish her the best of luck on her return and though I will miss Jen Lilley, I will be glad to Kirsten return to the role she has played so well for so long.

Welcome back to town...?
Recently Jerry Jacks returned to the town of Port Charles
mixed up in some very bad business (as usual eh?). It was surprising and
interesting and a lot of fun because who doesn’t love a bad guy. Of course rumors
had been floating about a return from the dead for Jerry (who was killed off in
2010)but we were surprised that not only is he back but appearently behind the
nefarious business with Robin.. Sebastian Roche said he will be around a ”a few
weeks”, I for one am excited to see him back regardless how long he is with us.
However, with the return of Jerry comes another return…His
brother Jasper Jacks.
In May 2011, Ingo Rademacher (Jasper Jacks) revealed that
after 15 years on the sudser he was fired. Jax was last seen in January 2012 checking
on his daughter and getting his affairs. He supposedly around for “a bunch of
episodes” according to Rademacher’s twitter account.
Now comes opinion time…
I gave you my opinion on the return of Sebatian Roche. I
find Jerry to be a stimulating bad guy. Bad but lovable, which is an awesome
combination.
I am, however, a little iffy on Ingo Rademacher. I did find
his abrupt firing to be unfair considering the amount of time he has devoted to
General Hospital. On the flip side? Jax has been dull in recent years. I only
find him as interesting as his current relationship at the time. I loved Jacks
and Carly when it began in 2006, I thought it was refreshing change for both.
But the writing ruined them as a couple and now I am a devoted Carly/ Johnny
shipper so I am interested in seeing where this goes and what role Jax will
play. I will say I have always loved Ingo's chemistry with Laura Wright and with Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis).

Paging Dr. Addison Montgomery. Dr. Montgomery
So, I just found out that season 6 of Private Practice will
be Kate Walsh’s last. Kate Walsh originated the character, Dr. Addison
Montgomery, on Grey’s Anatomy in 2005. On September 26, 2007 the Grey’s Anatomy
spinoff premiered with Addison as the show runner. In a sit down on the talk
show Bethenny Kate Walsh announced
season 6 would be her last playing the lovable doctor.
This is upsetting news for me. Actually, I am not sure
upsetting is the right word. I adore Kate Walsh and Addison Montgomery might be
my favorite Grey’s/PPP character but both shows have lost Amy interest a
little. I still like them and I still watch them but not the way I used.
Let’s analyze this a little though; can you have PPP without
Dr. Addison Montgomery? There are other characters I like, of course. Charlotte
King? Love her like whoa. Outside of Addie she is my favorite PPP character.
She is tough and strong and full of all kinds of sarcasm. Charlotte and Cooper
may be one of my favorite couples on T.V. Shonda Rimes actually found a way to
keep them interesting without putting their relationship in jeopardy every
week. Amelia is a character I enjoy (most of the time); I also enjoy the
Amelia/Sheldon dynamic.
Things I don’t like? Dr. Violet Turner (played by Amy
Brenneman). I didn’t dislike Violet from the beginning. But overtime she
annoyed me more than just about any other character in Shonda land. With the
departure of Tim Daly as Dr. Pete Wilder (see my earlier blog entry) I am
actually
concerned she will annoy me even more. Her on and off again with Pete
was driving me nuts not to mention his character became more and more
unlikeable around her character but with his departure I am sure she will whine
us all into insanity.
Another thing I don’t like? Pete and Addison. I never
understood them. I never got it. For Addison to date her best friends ex
husband seem to backtrack any growth she has exhibited as a character. This was
the woman who supposedly learned from sleeping with her husband’s best friend,
right? Plus Sam is just…blah…I wish I could find a more interesting way to explain
this but I can’t. He’s just boring and Addisam is boring.
Benjamin Bratt was a good addition to PPP. I know most
people disagree with me but I don’t care. I like what he brings to the dynamic
of the show. I like the way the developed his character and the dimensions they
have given him. I adore his thing with Addison. I always wanted Addison and
Pete to be endgame but with Daly leaving I guess that won’t happen. I could
tolerate an Addison/Jake endgame
.
With all of that said I am little concerned by all of the
Shonda land changes. First (as I said above) Tim Daly won’t be in season 6 at
all. Kate Walsh is leaving at the end of season 6. Then on the PPP counterpart
Grey’s Anatomy, we are losing Chyler Leigh (Dr. Lexie Grey), Kim Raver (Dr. Teddy
Altman) and Eric Dane (Dr. Mark Sloan). Let’s just say I will be interested in
seeing where these two shows go from here.

Seriously!? SERIOUSLY!?
This may very well be the worst news I have gotten all day.
Eric Dane, the man who came into our lives as the lovable and flawed Dr. Mark
Sloan (aka McSteamy) on Grey’s Anatomy, has apparently decided to leave after
the shows eighth season. Shonda Rimes (Grey’s and Private Practice’s creator)
gave a statement saying this was a mutual decision.
Dane also gave a brief statement,
the classic platitudes you know the drill. Dane’s departure comes right after
the blow that Chyler Leigh (who plays Lexie Grey, the sister of the title
character) left the show and her counterpart died on screen. Lexie, who was Dr.
Sloan’s off and on paramour, left us feeling empty after her tearful exit in
May. Fortunately, sources close to the show believe that McSteamy will be
around for a few episodes in season 9 to wrap up his storylines.
Dane is the third person to exit the show this season.
Everyone is expected to remain around for at least two more years. The third
person being Kim Raver (aka Teddy).
This is a sad day for me. I didn’t like McSteamy when he
first entered (I mean, really? Total jerk) but he grew on me. His relationship
with Lexie aka Little Grey was bright spot in what became at times a hard show
to watch. Although as much as I love Slexie (Mark and Lexie), the back and
forth did get to be a little much. And I told my good friend Natalie that it was
do or die time. I guess I was right, die time.
Goodbye McSteamy and good luck Eric Dane.

Kirsten Storms In (yay!), Jen Lilley out (sad)
I am here with some General Hospital news. I want to
apologize. I meant to post more here but I had a thi happen (broken foot and
broken ankle) which has wrecked my lite temperarily. I am going to try and do a
little better from now on.
Ok, GH news. Jen Liley (current Maxie Jones on General
Hospital) released a youtube video on July 21 2012. The video which I posted
earlier today was actually a little heart breaking.
Kirsten Storms took the role of Maxie in May 2005 (she received
an emmy nomination for this role in 2009). In 2011 Storms vacated the role to
an unexplained illness. This illness caused her to walk off set many times or
even miss work altogether. The illness
was later identified as endometriosis. Storms stared on the reality show Dirty
Soap and was shown dealing with this illness. It was formally announced she would
return to the role in February 2012. Later it was confirmed she would not be
returning
.
As I said above, on July 21 Liley posted a video on youtube
where she thanked her fans for their support. She also thanked her fans for trying to trend #welovejenliley. She was visibly upset and crying.
It was really sad.
That is the facts and here is my opinion.
I have always liked the character of Maxie. She is
troublesome I know. But she is also loyal and spunky and I like it. Kirsten
realy defined the role. She made Maxie into someone fans can remember. When
Storms fell ill and Liley took over I didn’t like it. But Liley grew on me. I
have actually really liked what she has done with Maxie. So, I can honestly say
I am torn. I am excited that Storms is coming back ( and that she is in better
health, of course). But, at the same
time I am sad to see Jen Liley leaving.
I will end with this…I wish Kirsten Storms all the best on
her return to Gh. I also wish Jen Liley all the best in her future in
endeavers.

Bye bye Pete Wilder
So, recently it was announced on many sites that Tim Daly
(who has played Pete Wilder on ABC’s Private Practice for five years) will not be returning for the sixth season of the Grey's spinoff (which is rumored to be it's last, more on that later). Many fans are unhappy and the reasoning seems
to be Shonda Rimes didn’t handle it professionally. I am not sure I see that.
According to sources (Namely Daly’s twitter) Rimes notified Daly that his
contract was not being renewed via his agent. I kind of assumed that is par for
the course…am I wrong? Regardless, it’s called show business for a reason
people- emphasis on the business. Build a bridge, ok?
My feelings on Daly’s exit? Eh. Shall I expand on my eh? Ok,
here goes…I love Tim Daly (Wings represent.) I love Pete Wilder. I was very
much hoping for a Addison/Pete long term thing. I have grown accustomed to
Addison and Sam. I have even been looking forward to a potential Addison/Jake
thing but for a long time I held a candle for Pete and Addison. However, Pete
and Violet are killing me. The back and forth alone is nerve wracking but then
throw in who he has become since being with her…well; it’s enough to make me
violently ill.
I understand someone had to go for financial reasons (that
is my assumption at least, don’t quote me.) I wish it had been Violet (Amy Brenneman)
because her character is unnecessarily whiny and just irritating. But as sad as
I am to see Pete go at least he and Violet are done now. However a friend
pointed out to me that now we will probably have to deal with a season’s worth
of Violet complaining so buckle up Private Practice fans and get a helmet.
